Have you met my band?

Greetings from Victoria and for those of you who are new to the newsletter, welcome!

Last time we connected, I was recovering from ankle surgery and an injured wrist with high hopes for the coming year. I’m happy to say that I’ve been playing guitar without pain and STANDING UP to play my lap steel. I’ve got a custom made clamp (for the guitar, not me) to help keep the guitar in place. The clamp is still a work in progress, as are the dance moves. All the better to front a band…

I’ve got some fun and talented fellas playing with me–Gavin Hodgins on mandolin and guitar, Denny Box on drums, and Bruce Cobanli on bass. I’m very excited about the sound we’re creating and the gigs coming up. Our debut was a street concert in the summer–what a gas! Dancing kids, sunshine, and big wide grins all around. This is the power of live music returning, people are telling me “I didn’t realize how much I missed it.”

So, gigs. . . well, the pandemic’s 4th wave here in BC is tenacious but there is light poking through. We’re allowed to play indoors with restrictions so we’ve got shows coming up on Saltspring Island and Duncan (in-person and live stream!) here on Vancouver Island. I’m now keeping shows updated on my website through bandsintown. Please follow me there for more details and notifications of live shows.

The other news is that my music is now (okay, ‘finally’ I hear some of you say) available through streaming and sale platforms like Apple MusicAmazon, and Spotify. For newcomers, click the listen button on the main page to listen to full songs, download, and buy physical CDs through Bandcamp.

Thanks for reading and carving out some time to support my music and other artists you follow!

Stay connected,
Sue
