Greetings from my new home on Vancouver Island! This summer, I said many tearful farewells to my cherished Edmonton friends and colleagues and I have been settling in to Victoria for a few weeks now. And what a fabulous way to venture into the Victoria music scene–I got to play a set for a private party at the Regent Hotel with gorgeous views of the inner harbour. Thanks to Rosemarie Colterman from Royal LePage Coast Capital Realty and her family for hosting the gathering! I met some really warm people, including Suzanne and Sean who played a very cool set with a great rendition of Stormy Monday among other gems.
So, I have invited change in my life and part of my grand plan is to have a few months to put music in the driver’s seat! Music has been a significant part of my life for a while now but it has often had to sit quietly in the back seat, only getting my energy and attention after the work day was done and the grass was mowed (or the snow shovelled!) Every once in a while, I would hear the still small voice of my music calling . . .
“Are we there yet?”
” Yes, yes we are.” Stay tuned.
